4pc. Green LED Interior Underdash Lighting Kit Order Now

Let me start off by saying that now that I have it all installed, it's nice and works well. However, getting to that point was a rather time consuming issue, because of the way that I wanted to install it.

Based on the LEDGlow website, I was lead to believe that I could install the unit with an auto on/off so that the unit would be a "set it and forget it" kind of thing that I could hook up to an accessory power source. I wanted to set their unit, hide it under the center console, and install my own rocker switch to make it more custom/stock in appearance. This was supposed to be achieved by simply holding the "mode" button while the unit was off for 3 seconds. I tried that, I tried it while on, I tried it for 15 seconds, I tried everything. Then I called LEDGlow, who was very helpful with troubleshooting my problem.

The solution: I had to go ahead and completely bypass the control unit, since I had no interest in the flashing/fading/and music sync settings. This required me to completely cut the LED cables (4) coming from the unit, as well as the +/- lines going into the module. THIS VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY. DO NOT CONTINUE IF YOU WANT TO KEEP THE UNIT UNDER WARRANTY. Once I had the module removed completely, I pulled the 4 wires out of each LED cable (total of 16). From here, I had to do some testing and trial/error, but I came to the following conclusion, since LEDGlow was not able to confirm for me: Within each cable, there are 4 wires (red, white, blue/green, and black). The Black wire is your positive (+) connection, which should go to your 12v power source. The other wires (red, white, blue/green) all need to be grounded to the negative side (-). Each one of those wires controls 6 of the LED lights within the tube (x3 is a total of 18 LEDs in each tube). If you want brighter or dimmer light, you could customize this to have separate controls over the number of lights in each tube that you want to have lit at any given time. I just went for all 3 connected to the same switch, so that my on/off is either all 18 LEDs in each tube, or nothing at all.

So after what should have taken me an hour and half to install, but resulted in 5 hours of trial/error and lots of cutting/stripping/reconnecting, I finally got the LEDs installed with a very subtle, yet custom look. No ugly flashing, fading, or effects - just a solid, steady, consistent interior light that adds a bit of customization to my car. However, since it was such a pain to install the way that I was lead to believe it COULD be installed, I have to give it 3 stars. It works, but it was a pain.

If you're planning to install this in a standard fashion, using their unit for all of the effects, then this is 5 stars. Easy to connect to any power source, and instant results.Get more detail about 4pc. Green LED Interior Underdash Lighting Kit.
